Now to get to Saint Petersburg you can apply for the e-visa, it is faster, and it is simpler. You should check list of countries which are applicable for e-visa on https://evisa.kdmid.ru.


  • You should fill in the application form on the website https://evisa.kdmid.ru not earlier than 20 days and no later than 4 days before the intended date of entry.
  • A passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of applying an e-visa.
  • Photo -35x45 aspect ratio, the face must take up 70-80 percent of the photo. Photo should be in JPEG format
  • No need to have an invitation or hotel reservation (in some cases you might need a hotel reservation or just simply the name of the hotel and where it is located)
  • Medical insurance for the period of stay

It should take around 4 days to get a visa. Duration of the stay is 8 days, if more then must get a regular one.

If getting an e-visa, you can only cross the border by plane (Pulkovo airport) and checkpoints for car, busses and bikes.

E-visa apply only for St. Petersburg, you cannot visit other cities on the period of stay. If you would like to visit other cities, you should get a regular visa.

It’s not possible to use the train Allegro (Helsinki – St. Petersburg) to travel to Russia with an e-visa.
